The latest survey reveals that 88% of consumers want brands to help them be more environmental and ethical. The environmental-friendly image has a very large impact on consumer perspectives and perceptions of the brand, especially among the younger generations. Ethical decision-making also plays an important role in investments, sustainable investing is something that more and more investors lay their eyes on. Why? As the word says, it is sustainable, ie it creates opportunities for a secure future, both personally and for the whole society.
Concerns have been raised
Just recently Elon Musk tweeted his concern about Bitcoin, stating that while cryptocurrency is a good idea on many levels, it has a negative impact on the environment due to unsustainable fossil fuels that are linked with Bitcoin mining. His concern reached many people, which immediately lowered the price of Bitcoin and made investors doubt its sustainability, making them seek alternative investment opportunities. There has been a big turnaround in the financial world - it is no longer important how much you earn on investments but also how you earn it and at what expense. Investors are beginning to realize that the stocks, securities, and funds in which they put their money must also offer value to the whole environment. A new concept has been born, a new trend - sustainable investing
What is sustainable investing and how to invest sustainably?
In the case of sustainable investing, investors invest precisely in companies that seek to combat climate change, environmental destruction, while promoting corporate responsibility. If a company has this kind of features present, the future is exceptionally bright. There is a wide range of possibilities from wind power stocks, like General Electric, to green transportation companies, like Tesla. Sustainable investing doesn't have to link necessarily only to innovative high-tech companies, there are also good and yet maybe more traditional alternatives, like investing in land. Buying land gives the investor the opportunity to contribute to saving the planet, by helping to preserve natural areas that are producing oxygen and keeping our planet healthy.
The land is being destroyed at high speed, instead of forests and greenery, big cities and highways are emerging. It is quite common for the purchase of a new plot of land to end with the construction of a new parking lot, here investors have the opportunity to contribute to improving the situation. An environmentally-friendly course of action would be to take care of the plot of land and, make a nature trail or park there. In today's world, it is common for people to be profit-oriented and want to get money for their investments as easily and quickly as possible, it must be remembered that the easy path is not always the right path for us and long-term thinking may bring better results.
Add a little bit of green to your portfolio
In the end, it doesn't matter what type of sustainable investment you go with, the mission, impact, and goal behind it do. It is good to see that more and more steps are being taken to improve the health of the planet and create a sustainable future. Big changes start with the smallest steps, it's time to hop on the train and invest sustainably, besides it's always good to have a little bit of green in your portfolio.
